The Ansel Adams Center is operated by The Friends of Photography, a group which Ansel Adams helped to found as part of his efforts to increase public awareness of photography as an art. The Center has a permanent gallery dedicated to the remarkable life and images of Ansel Adams.
The displays of his black and white compositions of natural scenes narrate the tale of his role as an environmental advocate and his unique lifelong journey in the public eye. Even if Ansel Adams’ personality is uncertain or unclear, a walk through the gallery will gently guide the visitor through the wondrous collections of his images of our National Parks.
Other galleries in the one-floor Center have diverse exhibits of creative photography, including individual work and group collections. The Friends of Photography promote a broad range of photographic expression, offering collections of fashion photography, controversial artists, and examinations of revolutionary techniques, as well as educational opportunities.
Allow the Ansel Adams Center for Photography to demonstrate new ways of seeing through the art of photography. Call for docent tour schedules, current exhibits, lectures and special events.
